Main Avenue apartments is a government subsidized housing for 24 senior citizens with low income.
The ministry of sharing the gospel at Main Avenue began in August 2013.
A time of fellowship (food) is included with each visit. Friendships have been made and it's hard to leave before spending several hours! We try to check on all who need a visit that may have been absent from our study because of an illness, a fall, hospitalization or other reason. The residents are a treasure trove of knowledge and are not ashamed of the gospel! They share sweet testimonies and are a joy to spend time with!
Bible study at Main Avenue apartment gathered in the community room to read and discuss the 3rd chapter of Second Timothy. Thru the prompting of the Holy Spirit Paul, tells of some of the signs of godless behavior in the last days. This study was a previous request of one of our attendees. As we read and discussed what this portion of scripture says, we all get a sense of urgency to share the gospel! Paul wrote: there will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. We also listened to the late, great preacher, J.Vernon McGee, as he discussed this portion of scripture. As we see these behaviors all around us, we just may see ourselves. Scripture is our mirror to get a 'self examination' as we read. It's a perfect "check-up" for us all. (Make sure of your calling in salvation if you see yourself in multiples of these behaviors) The good news for the true Christ-follower is: Jesus is coming soon! Determine to share the gospel as we go!!
